This concept came together with my creative twin, Cara Lindsay. Cara is the owner of Cowgirl Camera, she is a phenomenal artist and one of my truest friends.
Cara and I met when I was living in Portland but then I moved back to Utah just a few months later. Our friendship really grew over the course of 2020 via Marco Polo. We leaned on each other in the mist of personal struggles, healing trauma(s) and coping through the pandemic. We held space for the other, we listened, rambled and cried. Her friendship is one I will treasure forever.
Post vaccination, we met up again in Portland. We adventured, held space, created and cried. This theme/concept came so clearly during that trip and just began to grow and grow and grow in my imagination.
Cara visited me in Utah a month or so later. With another friend of mine, Ali Betancourt at Indie Latina, we made this bloomin' vision come to life. After the shoot I legit sobbed, over and over and over (and still to this day), seeing something that means so much to me, portrayed so beautifully by my friends.
We can each take healing and growth into our own hands, for ourselves. We can water our roots, take care of whatever is aching, nurture our innerneeds, and truly bloom exactly as we are.
We have everything we need, already inside us. By blooming, you help others tofindthe sunshine.
Flowers, nature and creating are healing. We are all capable of blooming, exactly as we are. With sunshine and care, we can thrive, even during struggles or drought, with extra care during those times. We have to water ourselves, listen to our own needs and fulfill them, in order to bloom.
We are the creators and gardeners of our own lives.
